Outreach Committee

Reaching out beyond our church wall to support Eastern Shore individuals and organizations.

Outreach Committee

The mission of the Outreach committee is to empower parishioners to serve the community by coordinating efforts to help those in need by utilizing the Cure’s gifts of time, talents, and treasures, and by keeping an up-to-date list of giving and service opportunities in the community.
The committee, which includes members from the Cure and from the surrounding faith community, meets the fourth Monday of each month at 10:30 at Hungars Parish House. Gifts to community organizations are recommended to the Cure by a majority vote of members present. The Cure Vestry approves and disburses all funds.
Past financial recipients include the local schools, ESVA Food Bank, Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Habitat for Humanity, and numerous others. Additionally, each month items are collected from parishioners to support the needs of local service groups. These groups may include the SPCA, local summer camps, ESVA Food Bank, Area Agency on Aging, and others. Often, the Outreach Committee members participate in events such as the local soup kitchen, music ministry, non-denominational worship at the nursing home, pancake and chili dinners, and events for local teachers and 1st responders. With cooperation from our congregation, Hungars Cure strives to be a good neighbor to those in need.
